It's Tuesday and I'm waiting on a friend to arrive to catch a rehearsal. The guys left for Colorado yesterday. I will catch up with them in a few days. I stayed behind to close a teaching contract that I only owed 21 hours of service to. Can't let the kids down.
Man, being around little ones is like a slap back down to reality. You wanna cuss, but you can't cuss. You wanna be a smart ass, but you can't be a smart ass. They're kids, I don't care how cool. Funny thing is, to wanna be this way is rare. Most of the kids I've been privaledged to encounter are great, smart, brilliant and ready for the NEXT.
I've been pretty much head down getting things done since leaving for SXSW. I'm toying with a book idea right now. A feeling I haven't had in a while. I'm going to keep adding to what I have and see where it goes.
SXSW was great. I rode down with Jacob, who was fresh outta having had surgery. He's well and in good spirits. So we ride down and that's the day I read the Austin Chronical review that basically gut punched the JTNL operation and all it stands for. Yes, not only a bad reveiw, but a kind of ass twistin. Dude had nothing-nothing-nothing-nice to say and long story short made me wonder if on his male period when he wrote the article. If a man period is anything like a woman period, then I'm certain is prolly just a mood swing. No disrespect. I can dig a bad review, personally. If you don't like something you should be allowed to say it freely. Write it with dignity. Know that you stood for what you were attracted to. The bad review gets a bad rap because fame is so instant. All in all, SXSW begain that way for me, but then I read the article in the Dallas Morning News that supported our efforts, music, swagger, future.
The Jimmy Kimmel show will still be taped on March 31 however, the air date has been moved to April 8.
