In Madison, Wisconsin today after doing the Praire Dog Blues Festival last night in Prairie Du Chien. Let me tell you - our entire day was rough. We started out having to deal with SW Airlines to get the check to rent another Norg. This put us two hours behind on travel to Prairie Du Chien. It just seemed a big "hurry up and wait" big azz moment which is no good for my PMS. Aaargh. We catch lunch. I have a cobb salad sans bacon with added salmon. A $12 to-go satisfactory meal. By 2PM we are ready and head out of Kansas City, KS, only to travel through an intense rain storm. this was the kind of storm that makes you try to find the weather station on the radio. Sure it allowed us to sleep in a cooler environment, but the sky was so dark it was discomforting knowing that we were now traveling by the skin of our teeth regarding time. It doesn't help that we end up in one lane traffic, but the road less traveled is paved or wide. So we get to the festival after dark and it's in the middle of Sherwood Forest. Not really, but it's out in the open, country night of Wisconsin - like a Bonnaroo for Blues folk sans the mushrooms, weed, and hard liquor. We do however manage to slay the audience. Front row and center they all were captivated and happy to see us. There was even a couple (Lynn and Dave?) who had seen us on the Lynrd Skynrd Cruise. It's hot out and I come off the stage soaked, which is usually fine except we r in the woods and the port-o-potty, although equipped with a light - just wasn't getting any action from me. So I get on the van wet inside my clothes which slowly began to suffocate me. The place where we were to stay, 'according to Nick', was "not to his liking" so we begin the two hour treck to Madison in hopes of finding a hotel. By now, I'm in and out of sleep in the back, gotta pee, and get outta my draws. There's some debating going on, we stop at a gas station where I'm able to relieve myself hoping to get to a bathroom soon. Eight or nine hours later, I wake up in the van. I look around and WE ARE ALL IN THE VAN SLEEPING and I'm like what the fuck happened????? Even crazier is we are sleeping outside of a hotel we are not staying in. I ask no questions - just get out and go inside to use the bathroom. By the time I come out, Nick is up and happily saying, "I FOUND A HOTEL!" I can only shake my head, load myself in, and continue the journey. I can't explain anything past what I can provide. I am now safe, showered, and semi-sane. I'm waiting on the washer downstairs now . . .show tonight, must be ready. Will be ready.
